As the summer drew to a close a few of decided to take advantage of one of the last opportunities to do a bit of depth before the water got too cold for such excursions. So we over-loaded our cars with tents, huge amounts of dive kit, various other "essentials" and set off for Wastwater. We'd booked a camp site that we'd stayed in over the summer and this time it was much quieter. We set up camp and got dinner going on the stove. A little later Nick and Megan arrived and...(Continue)

Friday June 22 Paul and I decided that at our great age we couldn't face starting a journey at 1am so we loaded the van on Thursday evening and set off for Scrabster at 8am on Friday. As always it was a long journey and the majority of it was spent on the A9 following an Eddie Stobart lorry doing 50mph for about 300 miles. Several espressos later we reached our hotel and checked in to find that almost all the other guests were elderly Germans and tha...(Continue)

When I booked this trip in February 2003 I thought it was a long way away. Amazingly it is now all over and I am sitting here with a cold, an aching back and a lot of good memories. Lou and I left Leeds at about 1100 on Friday 5th Aug to overnight in Inverness. The rest of the group left at 0100 Saturday morning to rendezvous with us at Scrabster. After 8 hours on the road Lou and I arrived at our hotel. We met the rest of the group at Scrabster the next morning and got th...(Continue)

Fortunately, us lazy students managed to get most of the day off so we were able to leave just after lunch, whilst those who had the misfortune of working had to set off late in the evening-unlucky! Dave McG, Lou, James and I arrived early evening in time to get the sweet penthouse rooms with on-suites and then to go get a c...(Continue)

See the Portland For Everyone Photo Gallery! The idea of the Portland trip was to get some of our newly qualified sports divers into the sea to show them how fantastic UK sea diving can be. I started off thinking that a group of 12 was the obvious number to take and hunting around I found that Breakwater diving did shuttle runs out of Portland to the shallow wrecks in the area. Then I realised that they had several boats and that I could give...(Continue)
